Feed My Starving Children

Today we took our first field trip of the school year to Brookfield Lutheran Church, where we participated in the "Feed My Starving Children" program. The 5th through 8th graders had the opportunity to prepare hundreds of meals for starving children around the world - something they will not soon forget!

2010-2011 Burger Kids - From serious to silly!

Fall has arrived and so has some great art!

What a change - we've gone from HOT and HUMID to COOl and CRISP! Last week we couldn't seem to get any air to flow through our classroom and this week there were times when we actually closed the windows because of the chill in the air!

We had a great week - we're on our way to Mexico in geography, learning more about IQBAL in literature, and starting our first writing project of the year. The pace has been fast and everyone is adjusting well. Great job, kids!

Here are some of our finished art projects that show what has been learned about primary, secondary, and tertiary colors. Now we're moving on to something a little more challenging . . . watercolor still lifes in the style of Cezanne. Come back next week to see how they turned out.

The school year is off to a great start! In spite of the high heat and humidity, everyone worked very hard this week. I'm looking forward to a year filled with new projects and activities.

Brand New School Year - Brand New Blog!

The first day of the 2010-2011 school year is fast approaching. While I have left a few of our posts from last year, most of our Mull-It-Overs have been hidden for now so that our blog is new and fresh . . . and last year's activities are tucked away so as not to reveal them too soon to our new sixth graders!

Enjoy your last few days of summer! See you on August 30th!

Sixth Grade Art Gallery

The Annual Sixth Grade Art Gallery was held this year on Monday, May 3rd. We had a wonderful turnout - 155 attendees!!! Thank you to all of the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends, who came to view all our hard work. The appetizers were delicious - we had cheese and crackers, shrimp, meatballs, and much more! I don't think anyone went away hungry. This was a big night for the kids and the full participation by family and friends really made them feel special

Grandparents Day 2009

We had a roomful of grandparents and special visitors today! They spent time with us as we worked with Kindergarten Writing Buddies, read our original stories, worked on math, painted our most recent masterpieces, played a wild spelling game, and even showed them a trick or two! Thank you for coming grandparents - your presence today was appreciated by your grandchildren as well as the whole Our Redeemer Faculty and Staff! We hope to see you again next year!
